Columbia Muddy Buddy Boulder

This is the third year in a row OnSight Media has been the official production company for the Muddy Buddy Boulder event. Columbia is the title sponsor this year in all 18 cities across the US. The production workflow consisted of a single camera and operator that followed the racers around the Boulder reservoir as they completed each obstacle. Post production took a couple of days to edit and encode the individual video clips for online viewing via the Columbia Muddy Buddy website. Additional video on DVD will be used for future event promotion.

3x Ironman World Champion Chrissie Wellington was in attendance in Boulder, CO as the official race starter. She also participated with the 10-year old Mini-Muddy Buddy field for a trip through the mud pit:

True to tradition was the costume contest, which takes place in the early morning before the official race start. Here are the best costumes from the Boulder event:

Mini-Muddy Buddy allows kids of all ages a chance to test their skills on an obstacle course and trip through the mud pit:

OnSight Media was on hand to document the fun that is Muddy Buddy. Compared to last year, the temps were warmer and the clouds steered clear of the Boulder Reservoir. The event kicked off with a costume contest. I’ll let the video tell the rest of the story:

The 2008 Muddy Buddy event came to Boulder, CO on August 17th.Â We worked with the event organizers to produce custom highlight videos of the Muddy Buddy race, the Mini-Muddy Buddy, the costume contest, an Interview with 2007 Ironman World Champion Chris McCormack, and another interview with Chris and his race partner “One Armed” Willie Stewart.

The video serves as a highlight of the days events and will be used to promote Muddy Buddy for years to come.Â The clips were assembled and delivered in an online Flash webpage, and a DVD was created for additional marketing.Â This project for Muddy Buddy represents a cost effective way to market and promote an event that has much to show off to an online audience.
